Lotha Football Championship underway
The 9th edition of Lotha Football Championship, organised by Wokha District Football Association, kicked off Tuesday at local ground, Wokha with Manaojkumar, IPS, Superintendent of Police, Wokha as the special guest.
Speaking on the occasion, the SP lauded WDFA for initiating such event and giving platform to the youths. He also appealed the players to strive hard for excellence so that they excel and can play in the national level.
The champions of the tournament will receive a cash prize of Rs.1,00,000 along with running trophy, certificates and medals.
In the first match of the tournament, defending champions NRSA defeated SP XI by 7-1. Nyanthung of NRSA scored five goals to become the first a hat-trick scorer of this edition. The lone goal for SP team was scored by Zubenthung in the 14th minutes of the game.
In the second match, Humtso Football Club beat Brothers Football Club by 3-1. Aremo, Yanchibemo and Yanchumbemo found the net for Humtso FC in the 19th, 69th and 70th minutes of the game.
Altogether 16 teams are taking part in the tournament.
